Additional Express Entry Points For Francophones

Canada's IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) has announced a new initiative to welcome French-speaking immigrants to Canada. French-speaking and bilingual immigration candidates will receive additional points under the Express Entry system as part of Canada's goal of 4.4% French-speaking immigrant admissions outside Quebec by 2023. Express Entry is Canada's online system to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled foreign workers.

“Supporting the development of Francophone minority communities outside of Quebec is part of this government’s plan for economic growth and long-term prosperity throughout the country. It is also the right thing to do to help support Francophone communities right across Canada. We will continue to attract Francophone immigrants to make sure that Francophone minority communities flourish.”

– The Honourable Marco E. L. Mendicino, P.C., M.P.,
Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship

Additional Express Entry Points for Francophones

  • Increase of 15 to 25 for French-speaking candidates
  • Increase of 30 to 50 for bilingual candidates

In 2019, the percentage of French-speaking immigrants to Canada outside Quebec increased to 2.82%, and the proportion of Francophones who received an Express Entry Invitation To Apply increased to 5.6%.

We made it (albeit after a little drama with the folks at Del Bonita)!

Evelyn, THANK YOU so much for coming to our rescue. We can’t begin to express how grateful we are for your help.

We’re settling into YYC, and are exhausted from the 5-day, 2500 mile, 10 state road trip.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
