Canada's TR to PR Pathway opened May 6, 2021, with a goal of accelerating permanent residency for 90,000 essential healthcare workers, temporary essential workers in other fields, international graduates and francophones and bilingual workers already in Canada. Canada reached its limit of 40,000 international graduate applications within 25 hours of opening applications - plus accepted an additional 7,307 applications due to a technical error, according to an IRCC information request obtained by CIC News.

Do You Want to Become a Permanent Resident?

International Graduate TR to PR Pathway

On June 28, IRCC approved a temporary public policy requested by Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino to allow the additional 7,307 applications to be processed, and for those applicants not to be penalized according to IRCC policy and their applications returned to them.

The TR to PR temporary permanent residence programs will help Canada reach its 2021 Immigration Levels Plan and welcome 401,000 new permanent residents.

Canada's Temporary TR to PR pathway streams will remain open until November 5, 2021, or until they have reached their limit.

It is hard enough in the normal course of business to obtain permanent resident status in Canada. Imagine the difficulty in gaining that status with a 36 year old developmentally disabled daughter. That was our experience. My husband had been recruited for the C.E.O. position at the Calgary Public Library. Even the process to obtain temporary work permits for all three of our family members took some time and effort. The Ackah Firm was with us every step of the way. They gave us good advice, managed the paperwork and kept my husband’s employer informed. They were also proactive by insisting that we get on with the process of permanent residency in a timely fashion. Again their experience and knowledge paid off. They utilized other legal expertise to make a case that our daughter would not be a burden to the Country or the Province. They were respectful of our point of view that despite her disabilities she had always been an active and engaged member of the community. We were pleased that permanent residence for parents and child came through fully six months before the temporary status expired.
