32 INCLUDED IN-DEMAND OCCUPATIONS
The technology sector plays an important role in British Columbia’s economy, and tech employment is at its highest level ever recorded which has led to an increased demand for talent. To ensure that the technology sector can attract and retain much needed skilled workers, a pilot under the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) was established. The program was formally launched on August 28, 2017. The BC PNP Pilot allows for a fast-track, permanent immigration pathway for in-demand foreign workers and international students.
BILL C-6 CHANGES MADE TO THE CITIZENSHIP ACT
On June 19, 2017, Bill C-6 was passed and significant changes were made to the Citizenship Act. However, many of the changes were not implemented immediately, and instead are now coming into effect as of Fall 2017.
CORPORATE AND KEY STAFF ELIGIBILITY
Online applications under the Corporate Stream and Expression of Interests (EOIs) in the Entrepreneur Stream are now being accepted by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The online system was launched to make it easier for applicants to submit applications online and to achieve improved processing times.
