What New Service Is Coming For Employers and Job Seekers On The Job Bank?

The New Service On The Job Bank

Employment and Social Development Canada, in a bid to help connect employers and job seekers, has introduced a new service called Job Match which comes into effect on August 28, 2017.

This service is offered through the Job Bank of Canada and will now require all employers seeking to use the Temporary Foreign Worker Program to use the service, which will automatically match job advertisement requirements posted by Canadian employers to job seeker profiles. This service will assist employers in matching job requirements to job seekers profiles. What is unique about this service is that job seekers will remain anonymous and only their profiles will be available to employers.

How the Job Match Works

The Job seeker is required to create a profile on the Job Bank website, which will show his or her credential and job experience. Once a Canadian employer posts a job advertisement, the Job Match will automatically find job seekers whose profiles match the job advertisement requirements outlined in your job posting. The strength of the match, will be accorded a star rating ranging from one to five stars, with one star indicating the slightest match and five stars indicating a near perfect match. Which means that the more stars received by the match, the greater the compatibility between the advertised position and the anonymous job seeker’s credentials. This can enable Canadian employers seeking to fill a high-wage position to be able to see the job seekers’ profiles and invite all those matched, within the first 30 days of the job posting to apply through the system if they are rated four stars or more.

Accessing the Job Match

To be able to access the Job Match service, job seekers are required to first register with the Job Bank by providing some personal information, including Social Insurance Number, mother's maiden name and date of birth, while for Express Entry candidates, their profile number and job seeker validation code are required.
