Emilie Duchesne is pleased to join Ackah Business Immigration Law as a Summer Law Student. She is attending law school at McGill University. She graduated with honors in English literature and philosophy from Carleton University and will receive her combined B.C.L/L.L.B. degree in civil and common law in December of 2019. At McGill, Emilie is the leader and co-founder of the McGill Corporate Accountability Project, an initiative to give law students opportunities to collaborate with local organizations in researching involvement by Canadian companies in human rights abuses abroad. She interned at PINAY, a Montreal-based organization that advises Filipina caregivers in the temporary foreign worker's program on maintaining their status while in Canada, gaining permanent residency, and enforcing their rights as employees. Previously, she also interned at Project Genesis, a poverty law clinic specializing in housing, welfare, and pensions, and at the Cambodian League for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights in Phnom Penh.
